Update T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900T To Official Android 5.1.1 Lollipop G900TUVU1FOF6 Firmware

Not much time has passed since T-Mobile launched the android 5.1 update for Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 EDGE. Now users of T-Mobile Galaxy S5 in the USA are in the queue to receive the latest android 5.1.1 Lollipop update (G900TUVU1FOF6). However at present we can't confirm what's new in the new lollipop update, but you can expect to see performance improvements, support for RAW and lower ISO values if you’re using a third-party camera app that makes use of Lollipop’s camera API and several bug fixes including the keyboard fix.

Read Instructions Carefully

  • This tutorial can only be applied on T-Mobile Galaxy S5 model number SM-G900T.
  • Backup entire data stored on your tmo S5 including photos, videos, apps, sms messages. 
  • Use 'Helium' app to backup app data and restore them later.
  • Charge the battery to atleast 60% or above.
  • Enable USB debugging by going to 'Settings>Developer options>USB debugging'
  • If Developer options is not visible then go to 'Settings>About device'. Tap the build number 10 times to unlock 'Developer options'.
  • Remove SDcard before doing any manual installation.

Update T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900T To Official Android 5.1.1 Lollipop G900TUVU1FOF6 Firmware


  • Download the Samsung USB drivers and install it. Skip this step if you have previously installed the drivers.
  • Download ODIN.
  • Download the firmware file for tmo galaxy S5 and extract it in a new folder on desktop. The firmware file has an extension of .md5.
  • Now switch of your phone and reboot the phone in download mode, by pressing 'Home+Power+Volume Down' buttons simultaneously.
  • Release the buttons when phone vibrates.
  • Press the volume up key when you see a custom rom warning to enter into download mode.
  • Now open 'ODIN.exe' on your computer.
  • Connect your phone to PC via USB cable and let odin recognize your tmo S5.
  • When it is recognized by odin the field under <ID:COM> in odin will turn blue and you will see a message "<ID:0/016> Added"
  • Make sure that only "Auto Reboot", and "F.Reset Time" options should be checked. Do not change other settings of ODIN.
  • Now check 'AP' and click it and select the firmware file G900TUVU1FOF6 tar.md5 Android 5.1.1 file from the folder where you saved it.
  • Wait for few seconds till ODIN finishes some checks.   Click 'Start' to initiate the flashing process. When the process is completed odin will return a message 'PASS'.   
  • When your phone first boots to home screen (may take longer, 15 minutes or more) then disconnect it from PC.  
  • Now check the android version in 'Settings>About device>Android version'
  • You have successfully updated your T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900T to official android 5.1.1 G900TUVU1FOF6 firmware
  • If you are using a Samsung Gear device with your tmo Galaxy S5 then update the 'Samsung Gear Manager' app after updating your phone to android 5.1.1.

Troubleshooting

  • If ODIN fails in between, then repeat the procedure. However it hardly happens.
  • If after updating to G920TUVU1AOF6 android 5.1.1 you see that your tmo Galaxy S5 has become slow or doesn't booting to home screen even after 20 minutes, then do a factory reset in recovery mode.

  • Install Samsung USB drivers for Galaxy S5.
  • Download CF-Auto Root package and odin v3.07 zip and place these files on desktop.
  • Extract the files in separate folders.
  • Now turn off your phone and reboot into download mode. If you do not know how to do it then see this tutorial.
  • Do not release the buttons unless you see a custom rom warning. Press volume UP to continue to enter into download mode.
  • Now open odin.exe on your PC and connect the phone to PC via USB cable.
  • Let odin recognize your phone.When your phone is recognized by odin the field under <ID:COM> in odin will turn blue and you will see a message "<ID:0/016> Added!!".This means that your phone is recognized and is ready to be flashed.

  • Now check 'PDA' and click it and select the 'CF-Auto-Root.tar' from the desktop.
  • Click 'Start' to initiate the rooting process.

  • You can use Root Checker app to verify that your phone has been rooted.
Problems After Rooting The Galaxy S5
If your phone does not boot post the splash screen then it might be stuck in a boot loop. So to resolve this reboot the phone into recovery mode by pressing the volume up, home key and power button at the same time.

Warning: This procedure will erase everything stored on your phone. Use if and only if your Galaxy S5 doesn't boot correctly. Make sure you have backed up the entire data.

  • The device will automatically boot in recovery mode.You can move up and down by pressing volume up and down buttons.Now select “wipe data/factory reset”.
  • The device will be wiped and factory reset.Then go back and select “wipe cache partition”.
